GeoLINK is a multi-disciplinary environmental management and design consultancy established in Northern NSW 30 years ago, with offices in Armidale, Coffs Harbour, Lennox Head and Lismore. Our principal services are planning, environmental assessment, ecology, civil and environmental engineering and urban design. About the role:
We are looking for a highly motivated botanist to join the GeoLINK team.  We have an experienced and well-respected team of ecologists and we are looking to bolster our capacity.

The successful candidate will have the option of being based in either our Lennox Head, Lismore, Armidale or Coffs Harbour office, with a hybrid working from home option available. The role is permanent with negotiable work hours (part time or full time). Those seeking casual employment only would also be considered.

The botanist role is diverse and interesting – some days you will undertake desktop assessments, other days you might perform field investigations in a variety of terrestrial ecosystems. We will ask you to provide high level reporting and specialist botanical advice to identify environmental constraints and opportunities across a variety of projects. You will work on development applications; various BAM Assessments; REFs; EISs and various management and monitoring plans.

You will work within (and potentially lead) multi-disciplinary teams in the management and delivery of projects.  Exceptional communication skills will be essential to develop contacts and networks to assist with the marketing and development of business.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a botanist in an environmental/ecological consulting or a relevant role. Please note we are also interested in candidates who have more experience in this field of expertise.  The renumeration for this role is negotiable and will be commensurate with your experience.
• Knowledge of NSW New England Tablelands, NSW Western Slopes and Plains, NSW North Coast and Mid North Coast region flora.
• Ability to write clear, concise and scientifically accurate reports.
• Knowledge and experience in the delivery of botanical field surveys and statutory assessments for flora.
• Experience in interpreting and applying relevant environmental legislation.
• High level of botanical skills including: identification; vegetation community mapping; and BioNet Plant Community Types.
• Project management experience including: resource planning; tendering; and financial budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Confidence and self-discipline to perform complex tasks and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
• Be available to travel away from home for extended periods of time.
• Current Driver License.

Additional desirable criteria:

• Intermediate GIS skills (preferably ArcGIS) for mapping production/spatial analysis.
• BAM Accreditation.
• An ability to use electronic field data collection.
