Bangalow Park Wetland Working Group
Client: Bangalow Park Wetland Working Group
GeoLINK undertook the concept and detailed design of a 1,500 m² stormwater treatment wetland located within Bangalow Park. Our engineers, urban designers, landscape architects and ecologists worked together to prepare a design that achieved multiple objectives.
The wetland will be a key landscape feature within the park and will also treat stormwater from the surrounding urban area, thereby reducing the pollutant load discharged into Byron Creek. The park is one of the main public open space areas in Bangalow and is well used by locals.
The wetland design enhances the amenity of the park, improves pedestrian connections and preserves well-established native trees. The concept design phase included an assessment of the hydrologic sustainability of the wetland to ensure it will remain wet and sustain vegetation, as opposed to drying out. The set of detailed design drawings included layout / earthworks plans, planting plans, as well as details of structures and erosion and sediment control measures.
