About this project

GeoLINK was engaged by Coffs Harbour City Council to prepare a bushfire hazard assessment for the redevelopment of the existing University of New England research and learning facility at Arrawarra Headland.

The redevelopment included alterations and additions to the existing building for a purpose-built marine rescue facility which will include a boat storage shed and communications tower. Improvements to the car parking area, as well as realignment and upgrading the existing site access.

The comprehensive bushfire hazard assessment included an analysis of the vegetation and land slope to determine the levels of risk, and recommendation of bushfire protection measures including asset protection zones, bushfire construction levels and landscaping requirements.

A bushfire emergency and evacuation management plan was also prepared in accordance with the Rural Fire Service Guidelines for the Preparation of Emergency/Evacuation Plan. The plan included a risk assessment and outlined necessary procedures to minimise the potential impact of a bushfire.
