About this project

In response to the changing health service demands of Armidale and the New England region, a $60 million Armidale Hospital redevelopment project was initiated by NSW Health Infrastructure in 2015. GeoLINK was engaged by NSW Health Infrastructure to provide town planning and approval advice and undertake a Review of Environmental Factors under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. GeoLINK’s environmental and planning consultants undertook a comprehensive assessment of all environmental factors including traffic and access, noise, vegetation, visual impact, contamination, soil and water, Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal heritage, socio-economic and waste impacts.

The redevelopment was completed in early 2019 and delivers positive socio-economic and health benefits to Armidale and surrounding communities.

The new four-storey building features:

  • Emergency department
  • Medical inpatient unit
  • Intensive care unit
  • Surgical department
  • Central sterilising department
  • Dedicated patient drop off zone and short stay carpark.
