About this project

The Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange, commonly known as the Casino saleyards, is the regional cattle selling facility for the Northern Rivers and the North Coast of NSW. In 2019 a $14 million upgrade of the facility was undertaken. The upgrade included modernising the facility, addressing maintenance, animal welfare, Work Health and Safety issues and the long-term economic viability relating to the aging design.

GeoLINK was appointed to undertake a review of the effluent management system, including water and nutrient balances using models developed with the Excel and MEDLI software. Throughout the course of the review, we assisted Richmond Valley Council with responding to information requests from the NSW Environment Protection Authority.

Following the review, additional tasks were completed, including a clean water diversion audit and a bypass channel capacity assessment.
